New bench at the Ibirapuera Park

Hugo França develops a project of reuse of felled trees in the city with the purpose of creating urban furniture. The idea is transforming this material that would be commonly disposed by the local government service into pieces of furniture for public use. These pieces are located close to where the tree that originated them used to stand. This way, the tree is still a local reference, but plays a different role in the urban environment. In February, the designer and his team were at a place where people walk their dogs known as Cachorródromo, next to Ibirapuera Park in São Paulo. The material to be reused was a big branch of a Tipuana tree that was hanging from the trunk, partially felled and with no chance of recovering. The branch was detached from the tree that was still standing and in good conditions. It was slightly carved and gained forms that suggest seats. This is the fourth bench that Hugo França makes for this place.
